Dr. Hughes is a board certified physician in Internal Medicine who obtained his medical degree at Midwestern University in Arizona before completing his Internal Medicine residency in Portland, Oregon. He has been working as an internist in Kahuku for the past seven years. Dr. Hughes is a National Institute of Health Asthma Champion and is the physician ambassador for the annual June Jones Goodwill Mission to American Samoa. Married with five children, you may see Dr. Hughes surfing, hiking, and playing sports with his family. He has helped with Kahuku Athletics for the past five years and enjoys seeing patients in this tight knit community — while shopping, at school, the beach, the movies or sporting events.

“I am grateful and honored to be a part of this community. I look forward to practicing medicine in Kahuku for the rest of my career!” — Dr. Jason Hughes

Dr. Christensen’s connection and love for this community began when she attended BYU-Hawaii — earning a bachelor’s degree in biology/secondary education in 1993 — and did student teaching at Kahuku High School and later taught at Kalaheo High School! She is Board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment and is licensed in the states of Hawaii and Washington. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University Of Health Sciences College Of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. She comes to Hawaii from Prosser, Washington where she served as in/outpatient clinic physician and ER physician at the Prosser Medical Center and Prosser Memorial Hospital Medical Center from 2002-2017. Dr. Christensen is married to Royden Christensen, D.O., who is the primary care physician at the BYUH Health Center (they met at BYUH!). Dr. Christensen enjoys jogging on the beach, working on fixer-uppers and traveling.

“Returning to Hawaii for me is ‘a dream come true’!”

Physician Asssistant Lindsay received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in BYU-Provo, and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree in Touro University-Nevada in 2011. Lindsay comes to KMC from Alpine, Utah where she worked at a pediatric clinic and pediatric urgent care since 2011. Lindsay and her husband Brandon have always had the dream to live in Hawaii, and it has finally come true! Lindsay is looking forward to being active in the community, providing care for our patients and becoming a part of our ‘ohana!

Says patient Rosa M. Hernandez: “Knowledge, dedication, and beyond my expectations. Dr. Hughes is devoted. He always knew what to recommend. Because of this I live a healthier life. He is also very polite, patient and above all, respectful. He made me feel like he was part of my family because he cared so much.”
