Heavy Cleaner - 2312021

Job Title: Heavy Cleaner              

Department: Housekeeping 

Full-time 1.0/40 hrs

Job Requirements: 

Responsible for cleanliness of assigned areas, care of assigned tools, equipment and materials; economical use of all soaps, disinfectant solutions, waxes and other janitorial supplies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleans and services building and equipment, sweeps and mops rooms, hallways, offices, laboratories, stairways and sidewalks.

  • Periodically wet or dry strips floors, waxes or applies finishing coats, or sealers on floors.

  • Buffs or dust mops floors, as needed.

  • Gathers and disposes of refuse; cleans ash receptacles, cleans and scrubs bathroom, walls, floors, ceilings and fixtures, around sinks, urinals and toilet bowls.

  • Cleans all fixtures inside the hospital.

  • Cleans dusts and vacuums all air vents in the hospital.

  • Polishes all water coolers, door knobs and stainless steel fixtures and equipment.

  • Washes walls, screens, windows, tops of windows and door frames and other high areas.

  • Fills toilet supply containers, removes and hangs draperies and cubicle curtains.

  • May do minor repairs to accessories.

  • Keeps janitor's utility room in good order.

  • Assists in moving materials and supplies.

  • May make some minor repairs to housekeeping equipment and household fixtures.

  • Collects soiled linen and transports them to the soiled laundry area, and issues clean linens to the floors where the linen closets are located.

  • Maintains skills and knowledge through participation in educational programs.

  • Complies with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, safety program requirements, corporate compliance program standards of conduct, all applicable statutes, rules and regulations.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Training / Educational / Experience Qualifications:

  1. Cleaning experience preferable.

  2. Must have a Hawaii's Drivers License.

  3. Must be knowledgeable in use of common household cleaning devices, such as:  brooms, mops, floor waxers, buffer machines, scouring pads and vacuum machines.

Physical, Communication, Mental and Environmental Demands:

  1. Must obey all house rules and safety regulations.

  2. Ability to follow oral or written directions.

  3. Continuous walking and standing, with frequent climbing, balancing, stooping,  kneeling, crouching, crawling.

  4. Frequent handling, with occasional reaching and eye-hand-foot coordination.

  5. Continuous corrected vision and color vision use.

  6. Lifting and carrying to 60 pounds, with frequent pushing and pulling to 100 pounds.

  7. High alertness level, with frequent concentration usage.
