Sione Tafuna, Psy.D

Dr. Sione M. Tafuna, a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD), is a native of the Kingdom of Tonga from the village of Kolomotu‘a. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and the current Director of Behavioral Health at Kahuku Medical Center. With over 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field, Dr. Tafuna has dedicated his life to helping individuals and families find contentment, healing, and purpose.

A skilled generalist, Dr. Tafuna provides compassionate, culturally responsive care to individuals across the lifespan. He has extensive experience working with Pacific Islander communities, individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, children with behavioral challenges, families navigating parenting difficulties, and those struggling with substance use. His comprehensive approach meets people where they are, offering support and guidance through life’s most difficult moments.

Outside of his professional work, Dr. Tafuna enjoys spending time with his family and friends, barbecuing at the beach, and exploring the natural beauty of Hawai‘i. His strong ties to culture, community, and family inspire his practice every day.
